Jim Feldkamp
A retired U.S. Navy Commander, Jim Feldkamp initially built his career as a Naval Flight Officer. Specializing in electronic warfare, he navigated the EA-6B aircraft during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, launching from the USS Midway in 1991.
Transitioning to the U.S. Naval Reserves, he subsequently joined the FBI as a Special Agent based in Norfolk, Virginia. There, he co-founded the Joint Counter Terrorism Task Force and also piloted aerial surveillance missions as part of his additional responsibilities.
He left the FBI in 2004 to enter politics, running as the Republican nominee for Oregon’s 4th Congressional District in two consecutive election cycles. In 2007, he resumed his naval service to help set up the office that would later become the NMIO, where he coordinated non-classified information sharing across U.S. government entities, foreign governments, and the maritime industry to enhance global maritime security.
Currently, he contributes his expertise to Georgetown University as a Subject Matter Expert, focusing on a course about "Terrorism and Unconventional Threats." His previous academic roles include adjunct professorships at George Mason University and George Washington University, where he taught courses on terrorism. Additionally, Feldkamp has authored and edited an academic textbook through Cognella Academic Publishing, titled "Theory and Politics of Terrorism."
